GANA[MUSIC]

GANA is the easiest way to to attain BHAGAVAN.ALL the Vedas are pure.IT cannot be said that one is greater than the other.Be it be yajur,sama or rig,all Vedas are pure. although all Vedas enjoy the same  status, the Alwars,or Nayanmars or other bakthas sing"chandiran  thalayil aninda  sankaran samavedi"scent moon [Lord shiva], who wears the crescent  moon on his head  is a sama vedi..In gita also lord says, "amongst vedas, i am sama veda.Bakthas also address the lord as hey sama gana priya, sama gana lola,. why is lord sama gana priya? why not rig,yajur,or atharvana veda priya?.Does he not like other vedas? are not other vedas pure?. it,s because sama veda is in musical form, Bhagavan loves it..Music attracts Baghavan.

JIVAN-MUKLTHI-VIVEKA

न  देहो नेन्द्रियम  प्राणों  न  मनो  बुद्याहम्कृथी । न  चित्तम  नैव  माया  न  च  व्योमादिकं  जगतु                 न  कर्ता  नैव  बोक्ता  च  न  च बोजयिता  तता । केवलं  चित्सदानंदो ब्रह्मेवात्मा  यातार्ततहा ।                           The self is neither the body, nor the senses, nor life, nor the mind, nor the intelligence,nor the ego,nor the thinking, nor the maya,nor the creation beginning with the space, not also the doer, nor the enjoyer. does not also cause these, in reality, the self is Brahman., which is knowledge, existence and limitless ananda.                                                                                                               This are 33 and 34 th  verses from jivanmukthi viveka by swami sri VIDYARANYA.

Limitation of samadhi

Samadhi of any kind is a state. It begins at a certain time.It has avalue over aperiod of time. At the end of the period it subsides.This kind of a beginning followed by a certain duration and further marked by a full termination is what is called samadhi. or a state or avastha.since samadhi is a state or avastha, the seeker cannot carry it with him all the time. To be in samadhi, he has to be away from all other states. Activity is a state. inactivity is also a state. Experience is also a state. so too non experience is also a state. if he has to be in samadhi ,he should be away from all these, in this light what can samadhi mean and what place of importance it can claim in assessment of reason?If samadhi is our goal, then we cannot continue with life movements.We have to refuse the normal life and activities if we want samadhi, as the two are in mutual opposition. Thus only spiritual pursuit will have to be viewed as  standing in full opposition to it.Finally Vedanta vichara alone works if you want to the supreme truth.

SIX SCHOOL OF THOUGHTS OF HINDUISM

In  Hinduism we have six school of thoughts. These are known as SATH DARSHANAS. sad in sanskrit being six. and Darshana means philosophy.[drs the root stands for to see or to understand.The six school of thouhts are Yoga-----[ashtanga yoga=eight limbs of yoga shastra]Yoga  shastra deals with body and the mind.It also talks about samatvam, which means to balance our body and mind, thereby  attaining cleansing the mind so that one can attain ti knowledge of the shastras.   [2]mimmsa= HERE shastra deals with our actions and rituals therein to reduce our dukkha[sadness] affecting the mind.According to these school of thoughts, if we perfect our actions, both physical and spiritual, we will never suffer from dukkha.[3]Nyaya=Nyaya emphasises on logic and establishes cause and effect relationships, between everything happening in this universe. Everything happens because of a cause, including suffering, and if we address the cause of dukkham, we can get rid of our troubles.[4] vaisehika=According to this school world goes through stages of evolution and dissolution.,including our actions. If we understand this correctly and act according to right stage of our actions we remain happy and avoid pain.[5]SAMKHYA=According to this school, life is a combination of consciousness[PURUSHA]  and PRAKRITHI[  inertness] While  Purusha is consciousness, the body, mind and senses are prakruthi. PRAKRUTHI depends upon Purusha for existence.At the same time PURUSHA needs Prakruthi in order to function in this universe. These close links between the two is  what allows life to function. [6] V EDANTA= IT holds the view of knowledge of religion as the cure for suffering.Vedanta  has KARMA KANDA [ACTION OR RITUALISTIC] and JNYANA KANDA[KNOWLEDGE  based]    Within this vedas, we have three schools, namely ADVAITA,VISHISHTADVAITA, AND DWAITA.      all SIX SCHOOL OF ABOVE MENTIONED   THOUGHTS          ARE FOR  addressing the spiritual  uplift for the mankind.

Ayurveda, the ancient system, is not just treating sickness, but rather it prevents the sickness and enhances health, longevity, and vitality. It,s a complete way of life, based on balance of Vata, Pittha, Kapha. and thus being harmony with nature. Ayurvedic way of treatments are simple,It focuses on concepts,rather than complicated details and and steps of treatments  are practical.It also discusses psychology behind fitness imbalances of individuals, and provides effective ways to reduce mental, emotional and physical hunger, and enjoy constructive, lasting change. In INDIA Ayurveda, is practised, since thousands of years, and it,s branch of ADARVA Veda. This way of treatment is suitable to any kind of patients, since it does,nt focus on the bodily ailments. In this system  three forces of vada, pittha, and kapha should be balanced. for any patient. Thus there is universality, as far as treatments are concerned.

HENCE MANY A TIMES PEOPLE TAKE TO SANYAS FOR TOTAL DEVOTION TOWARDS  SCRIPTURAL TEXTS WITHOUT ANY FAMILY ATTACHMENTS  AND FEELINGS WHICH ARE BONDAGES  ,TO SOME EXTENT   FOR A FULL TIME STUDIES. IN VIDVAT SANYASA HE ALREADY KNOWS THE LIMITATIONS OF BODY AND MIND AND PURSUES BRAHMAN  SO IN ONE TYPE OF SANYASA ONE IS A SEEKER AND IN ANOTHER ONE, THE RENUNCIATION IS DONE BY THE KNOWER. NOW WHAT  DOES ONE RENUNCIATE. IT'S ONES EGO, THE FALSE IDENTIFICATION WITH BODY AND MIND THAT ARE NOT NITYAM.HENCE IN VIVIDEESHA SANYASA ONE IS SEEKER OF ALL-PERVADING BRAHMAN, AND IN VIDVAT SANYASA, HE IS  A KNOWER OF ALL PERVADING BRAHMAN AND THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO BE KNOWN., FOR HIM.

IT DOES NOT DO ANY JOB.IT JUST LIGHTENS OBJECTS,IT NEITHER FORCES ANYBODY TO DO KARMA. THUS WE FIND SUN IS  ONLY A NIMTHA. IT,S ONLY A WITNESS OF ALL TRANSACTIONS THAT ARE HAPPENING. IN THIS VERSE ATMA  IS COMPARED TO SUN[ONLY A COMPARISON MIND YOU]. CRUEL FEB-15TH

DEAR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES,        IT'S WITH A DEEP REGRET THAT I REMEMBER FEB15,THE DAY WHEN CRUEL DEATH SNATCHED MY BELOVED WIFE PARVATHY VERY SUDDENLY, WHEN EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE.THOUGH THERE WERE INDICATIONS THAT WERE NOT CONDUCIVE FOR HER HEALTH, IT WAS ONLY A MILD COLD THAT DEVELOPED LATER INTO A PNEUMONIA, WHEN HER IMMUNITY WAS SUDDENLY LOW.REALLY I WAS CONFUSED AS TO HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS SUDDEN SITUATION. UNDER THE ADVICE OF MY RELATIVES AND FRIENDS OF GODREJ COLONY, SHE WAS ADMITTED TO GODREJ CASUALTY WARD AFTER WHICH SHE WAS IN THE I.C.U AND IN SPITE OF TREATMENTS SHE DIDN'T SURVIVE.ALL I CAN SAY THAT WHETHER IT'S MY OR HER BAD LUCK TO LOOSE A FINE ,INNOCENT SOUL.  AND A PARTNER FOR MORE THAN 35 YRS.I CANNOT FORGET HER CHARMING SMILE, AND HER HEART FELT ADVICES MADE ME A SOMEWHAT A REFINED INDIVIDUAL, THOUGH BY NATURE I AM A REBEL.HER PLAIN SINCERE TRUTHFUL ADVICES MADE ME TO THINK AGAIN AND AGAIN, WHENEVER I WAS IN UTMOST DIFFICULT SITUATIONS..MANY TIMES SHE WAS A COOL AND TRUE ADVISER WHICH MADE MY LIFE SO SMOOTH,SO MUCH SO THAT IF TODAY OTHERS SEE ME AS A RESPECTABLE INDIVIDUAL AMONGST MY FRIENDS AND RELATIONS.I WOULD ACCEPT THAT SHE MADE ME PSYCHOLOGICALLY STRONGER, THEREBY INTERACTION WITH OTHERS BECAME EASIER.ALTHOUGH I AM NOT ABLE TO FORGET FEB15TH, MY DEEP INSIGHT INTO VEDAS AND UPANISHADSHAD  HAD GIVEN ME A TOTAL FAITH AND COURAGE TO DEAL WITH ANY SITUATION,SPECIALLY DEATH, WHICH  CERTAINLY CANNOT BE AVOIDED BY ANY INDIVIDUAL OF THIS WORLD.HOWEVER DEAR THEY MAY BE.FURTHER I WOULD STATE THAT ALL THE OBSTACLES WHICH CAME IN MY LIFE MADE ME MORE STRONGER THAN EVER AND MY FAITH IN ISHWARA AND SHASTRAS INCREASED MORE AND MORE, MY VEDIC STUDIES ARE BECOMING MORE INTENSE AND NOW I AM IN THE FOREST OF VEDANTA, WHEREIN THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ANY DUKKHA., SINCE OUR SAGES REVEALED AND ANALYSED THAT TRUTH WHICH IS EVER PERMANENT, SO THAT MANKIND WILL COME OUT OF SAMSARA ONE DAY OR THE OTHER. I SHALL NOW QUOTE A FAMOUS VERSE FROM BAGAVATH GEETA[ 2ND CHAPT] WHICH SAYS THUS----NAINAM CHINTANTHI SHASTRANI, NAINAM DAHATI PAVAKAHA. VAIRAGYAM CHA PRAPTHAM, ETHAD BRUHI, MAMA PRABHO?-----JANAKA SAID;HOW CAN KNOWLEDGE BE ACQUIRED?HOW CAN LIBERATION BE ATTAINED? HOW IS RENUNCIATION POSSIBLE?--TELL ME THIS O LORD.----------KNOWLEDGE IS REALISATION OF  THE IDENTITY OF  THE INDIDIVIDUAL SELF  AND SUPREME SELF OR BRAHMAN WHICH IS EXISTENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND  ABSOLUTE HAPPINESS. LIBERATION MEANS FREEDOM FROM IGNORANCE, ALL BONDAGES, AND LIMITATIONS  ARISING OUT OF KNOWLEDGE IE COMPLETE DESTRUCTION OF MISERY, AND T5HE ATTAINMENT OF SUPREME HAPPINESS.-----RENUNCIATION MEANS UNATTACHMENTS TO THE PLEASURE AND PAIN DERIVEDE FROM WORLDLY OBJECTS AND EVEN TO TYHE JOYFUL LIFE IN HEAVEN, WHICH IS ALSO IMPERMANENT.THIS FORMS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITY IE REQD OF AN ASPIRANT FOR ATTAINMENT OF SELF KNOWLEDGE.

ASHTAVAKRA SAMHITA

the story of ASHTRAVAKRA AND JANAKA IS FOUND IN MAHABARATHA. when Ashtavakra was in his mother's womb his father KAHOR was sitting beside his wife SUJATA, and was reciting vedas. To their surprise , the child in the womb cried out."father, i learnt all the vedas through ur grace lying in my mother;s womb, but i am sorry to say that u often make mistakes in ur recitation.Kahor took this  as a grave insult and cursed his son saying he would be born with eight bends.Accordingly the child was born with twisted form and was named ASHTAVAKRA. KAHOR one day went to JANAKA'S COURT to beg money from king. The king had a great scholar in his court called Vandin who was the son of  king varuna. KAHOR WAS DEFEATED BY VANDIN  in vedic debate. As a result he was sent into the depths of the sea,  and was engaged there as a priest taking part in a sacrifice performed by Varuna. Time passed when Ashtavakra was 12, he heard the sad plight of his father. Accompanied by his uncle SVETAKETU, He went to janaka's court. He was not allowed, but when he showed his extraordinry knowledge of vedas, he was cordially welcomed by Janaka.At once he entered into a debate with Vandin and defeated him in the debate.He then rescued his father from grip of varuna. Kahor was very much pleased with son's achievement and wished to withdraw the curse he had put on his son before his birth.He therefore told ASHTAVAKRA to bathe in river SAMANGA, and the son obeyed, and when he came out of the river all his limbs were straight[ all the bends were removed].but his name continued as  ASHTAVAKRA. sage ASHTAVAKRA was later on Janaka's guru, and the dialogues between Janaka and Ashtavakra was known as Ashtavakra samhita or Ashtavakra GEETA. T his work is fully loaded vedanta tatwas and it talks about the ultimate truth of Brahman.

ADI SHANKARA in this famous works says that means to liberation should be explained again and again untill it's firmly grasped by the shishya., who is a pure Brahmana disciple who is indifferent to to everything that is transitory and achievable through certain means, who has given up the desire for a son,for wealth and for this world and the next[regions of the fathers,and the gods] who has adopted the life of a wandering monk and is endowed with control over mind AND SENSES,WITH COMPASSION ETC, AS WELL AS THE QUALITIES OF A DISCIPLE WELL KNOWN IN SCRIPTURES, AND WHO HAS APPROACHED THE TEACHER IN THE PRESCRIBED MANNER, AND BEEN EXAMINED IN RESPECT OF HIS CASTE, PROFESSION, CONDUCT, LEARNING, AND PARENTAGE.

ON EXPERIENCE

The word anubhava in most books is translated as experience in many vedanta books, which is wrong.in sanskrit anubhava is direct knowledge.experience does'nt convey this meaning.any experience does'nt give knowledge.Any mental condition caused by sense perception or memory can be called experience, but one need not have knowledge of what is experienced.for eg---pain is one's experience but the knowledge of pain implies it's origin also.one may see a object outside without knowing what it is. seeing is no doubt an experience but knowing is totally difft.When u say Atmanubava  it's not an experience.  for if u say self is to be experienced, then it means that self is not within the field of one's experience and has to be experienced by special means.If the self is consciousness can the experiencer be independent of consciousness.The experiencer is the self, while self is not just the  expeiencer.This ever present consciousness exists even if u ,experience or not experience.Vedanta says duality exists because of superimposition of experience upon the self consciousness.This recognition is ATMANUBAVA.
